The origins of the Castle of Borgomale date back to the 9th century, when it was mentioned as a fortification belonging to the bishop of Asti. Over the centuries it was enlarged and improved, and with the passage of time it became the seat of powerful local nobles such as the Marquis of Vasto, the Marquis of Ceva and Cortemilia and Del Carretto di Gorzegno, among many others. The original structure had 5 towers and a drawbridge that was later replaced in the 1700s by a raised covered passage that remains today.

The Castle boasts many period features and has recently undergone substantial structural restructuring and complete roof repairs.
From the main square of Borgomale, a large wooden door opens onto the inner courtyard and garden (about 7000 square meters). arousing the feeling of going back in time.

The Castle is accessed through the wine cellars on the ground floor or through a romantic covered walkway that leads directly to the third floor which houses the noble apartments that extend over another 2 floors. The interiors are characterized by high vaulted ceilings and fireplaces, as well as a magnificent central stone staircase that leads to a panoramic rooftop terrace with stunning views of the surrounding countryside. These spaces could easily be renovated and transformed into numerous suites or independent apartments.
The ground floor with exit to the garden has a huge entertainment space on two levels and several cellars. The first and second floors have additional cellars, with wooden staircases, the original Castle kitchen and a private chapel.
