Castle on the border between Umbria and Tuscany with a view of Lake Trasimeno. The rich history of the castle, the oldest in Italy survived and so well preserved, dates back to Charlemagne who donated it in 802.
The strategic position has always brought great military importance to the fortress over the centuries and still today dominates the Valley.
The property has been carefully restored by the current owners who have maintained its character and charm. The main building inside the fortified walls is divided into two apartments, the master and the caretaker’s. The manor house is characterized by two large rooms and a beautiful library with stunning views of the lake. A part still to be renovated internally can be used as other separate accommodation.
Inside the walls there are then 5 additional apartments, a consecrated church, a wine cellar, a prison tower, a walkway on the walls, an internal garage for 5/6 cars. Outside the walls there is a shed for tractors. In total the castle is divided into 28 rooms, 12 bathrooms for a total of about 1800 square meters. The internal garden, of about 1500 square meters, enjoys total privacy. The property includes 13 hectare (32 acres) of land partly woodland with oaks, pines and cypresses, and part of an olive grove with the production of an excellent organic olive oil.
