This Castle (Castillo Casasola) is For Sale with RE/MAX Distrito Clásico

CASTILLO DE CASASOLA is a magnificent property that combines history, splendid views and the possibility of producing income from its buildings and the agricultural exploitation of its circa 707 acres of land.

This wonderful property dating back to the fifteenth century, stands on a rocky outcrop on the banks of the Tajuña river, in the Madrid municipality of Chinchón, just only 28 miles far from Madrid and 6,6 miles from Chinchón city.

The Casasola Castle is located on the so-called Monte del Condado de Castillo de Casasola, over approximately 160 feet from the land at its feet, which gives it privileged views of the surroundings, overlooking a large area of the Tajuña valley, as well as the sites of other castles, such as Valderradela and Heza.

The building complex (Castle) is accessed through a stone bridge that crosses a moat formed by two arches and is considered in some studies as the best preserved medieval moat in the area.

THE CASTLE
It consists of three well differentiated areas that leave inside an open garden patio of over 4,000 sq. ft. to the north towards the Vega de Tajuña.

The Tower of Homage (Torre del Homenaje) of 439 sq. ft. constructed area and today habitable because of the unique space created for 1 bedroom. The tower is accessed through a vaulted gallery and the enclosure that delimits the moat, built with masonry supported on a rocky base.

The North Building, with a constructed area of 2,789 sq. ft., has a rectangular floor plan with an open space under roof and has a north-facing façade with views over the Vega de Tajuña from the cozy living room with fireplace. The building is accessed from the south facade, through a small porch from which you reach the kitchen and the distributor that leads to the living-dining room and the bedroom, bathroom and antechamber of the bedroom. The space under the roof is currently used for storage.

The South Building, of 3,681 sq. ft. constructed area, is located on the opposite side of the patio. It is rectangular in shape and also has an under-deck space and a staircase that leads to a double-height bedroom. The ground floor of this building consists of a living room-kitchen area, 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and on the upper floor, with 1 bedroom with a bathtub and a toilet.

Both North and South buildings, whose construction dates from the 1940s and which are also accessed through a landscaped patio, are of traditional brick construction founded on the rocky massif and with gabled roofs made of Arabic ceramic tiles. Their finishes are quite similar: wooden exterior carpentry; handmade terracotta floors; plastered walls and tiling in damp areas and wooden beams on the ceilings.

The rooms are carefully designed and adapted to facilitate visitors the enjoyment of this unique property.

The castle complex also has a barbecue, located to the northeast of the complex, and a garden area leading to the cave.

The CASTILLO DE CASASOLA complex also comprises the following areas:

Swimming Pool Area (2,120 sq. ft.), located outside the Castle complex, which is accessed via a fork in the road leading to the castle, which ends in a flat area with lush vegetation and that, in addition to the swimming pool, has auxiliary constructions to provide service to it.
Parking and auxiliary area of the castle.
The singularity of this property is that the remains of the medieval castle have been preserved and enhanced.

It should also be noted that the building complex is not affected by environmental zones.

Brief history of Casasola Castle

The property belonged to the sexmo of Valdemoro, which was part of the community of Ciudad y Tierra de Segovia, until the 15th century, when Don Juan de Contreras, known as the old man, acquired these properties and built the castle. It then became the property of the Arias Dávila family, Counts of Puñoenrostro in 1583, and in 1684 they were granted the title of Marquises of Casasola. Recently it was secret accommodation for politicians and military in favour of the proclamation of Alfonso XII.

It has a marked defensive layout and is built of irregular masonry, with a triangular ground plan and two circular towers at the corners of its façade. The Marquis of Lozoya was, in addition to being a great historian of Castilian art, the direct heir of the first founder of the castle in Alcarria.

Casasola wasn´t part of any important warlike event, as it is a late castle, castle-residence, although well-fortified, which preserves the feudal atmosphere in an enclave of extraordinary beauty.

It is located at the entrance to the Tajuña valley, in a rocky area with impressive views that was used as a place of vigil already in Roman Gaul times.

The fortress has a large well dug in the middle of the clay rock, which gives access to a water spring, with a circular passageway identical to the underground passages in the citadel of Tetuán, and is therefore presumed to be of Arab origin.

This 15th-century rock castle is a clear example of feudal property that stands as a symbol of the possession of the manor and the lands it defends.

At its feet, dry land, irrigated land, vineyards, esparto mountains, which remind the traveller of the presence of a historical period where the place played a prominent role in the reconquest or the Roman colonization, but which has all the services of the 21st century.

AGRICULTURAL LAND:

Surrounding the Castle are the lands belonging to this property, of 706,47 acres of irrigated land, dry land, lake… This is the Casasola Lagoon. Located on the left bank of the Tajuña, it is accessed from a country road that leads to the historic Casasola Castle.

The Casasola lagoon is an extensive reed bed of 6,32 acres and 3,28 ft. deep that doesn´t have a large number of bird species, but is an important roosting site for species such as western jackdaws, black starlings, wheatear buntings and magpies.

The land is used to grow crops such as alfalfa, wheat, olives, vines, barley and maize. Others can be planted, such as almonds, saffron and pistachios, thanks to the quality of the land that favours this type of farming.

It also has small game such as partridge, quail and rabbit, and several species of birds of prey, including a pair of golden eagles.

Casasola Castle is a very special place that has a variety of possible uses, such as housing, a place to vacation, hotel, small convention centre or team/staff retreats, among others.
