€POA Saluzzo, ITALY. XVII Century Castle for Sale

This Castle is For Sale with IB International

Built in the fifteenth century on the top of a hill, in a secluded and quiet position, the castle was initially used as a fortification of a marquisate. After being transformed into a noble residence in the second half of the seventeenth century, it has undergone progressive changes until it assumed the current appearance. The structure is characterized by the towers that define the castle, the crenellated tower located inside the park (dating back to the 18th century), a small private chapel of exquisite workmanship inside the green area, arches, vaults and paths in the secular park that give further charm to the complex, depicting it as a small medieval walled village. The structure, with a total area of 2.500 square meters, is divided into two different blocks: the main body with towers containing the access stairs to the floors and the smaller wing of the Castle, in continuity with the main body, in which houses the suites and other rooms that can be reached through a cloister and a picturesque gallery in which there are important works of art. At the entrance of the structure, and circumscribed by the enclosure wall, there is also a smaller building used partly as rooms, partly as a thermal plant and warehouse. The floors of both wings of the building are served by an elevator.

The castle has 25 rooms, four elegant dining rooms, three main salons, a large covered gazebo as well as numerous common rooms and a 300 square meter Spa. The property for sale includes a park of almost 6.000 square meters, completely fenced and characterized by the presence of numerous centuries-old plants, including some very rare oriental plants. Of particular quality is the garden which is perfectly cared for in every detail thanks to the presence of paths for walks, flower beds and shaded areas with ornamental plants and a reserved area with swimming pool, solarium and lemon-house. The parking area is located outside the castle, measures about 1000 square meters, is set on 2 levels and houses about 50 parking spaces. In the same area there are basement rooms used as a warehouse and an electricity production plant. The property is completed by a woods of about 2.5 hectares.

Saluzzo is a typically medieval hill town: small cobbled streets, churches and elegant noble palaces with gardens populate the historic center. The territory of Saluzzo is included in the Terre del Monviso and in the Occitan Valleys (a cross-border biosphere reserve between Italy and France). Ruled over the centuries by fourteen marquises, the Marquisate of Saluzzo reached its maximum fortune in the fifteenth century. Saluzzo has a vast historical center still entirely built according to the fourteenth-century urban architecture, with numerous poles of museum and artistic attraction. Of particular interest in the town are the Duomo, the Castiglia and Villa Bricherasio which houses an immense Botanical Garden. Saluzzo is one of the most exclusive antiques centers for art furniture and restoration. Even the handicraft of iron and wood boasts an ancient tradition continued by the family-run workshops enhanced by the Antiques and Furnishing Exhibitions.
