An Culu Castle Ireland sold by Savills

Savills Confirms Sale of An Culu – A Luxurious Irish Castle

Savills today, 2nd December 2020, confirmed the sale of one of the most high profile properties sold in Ireland in recent years.

An Culu is a magnificent 'castle' perched overlooking Kenmare Bay in County Kerry.  Sitting on 4.5 acres and surrounded by forestry, the 9,000 sq ft property was originally a 'tea folly' house.  In the late '90s, UK entrepreneur and business man, Kevin Reardan saw the potential of the property and set about developing it in to a substantial, luxurious and exquisitely detailed castle.

Negotiated by Savills Director Catherine McAuliffe  and her colleague Michael O’Donovan (Associate), Ms McAuliffe commented “This was definitely one of the most unique properties we have had the pleasure of selling”  referring to the property as “a truly magnificent home in the most private and tranquil setting”.

The company described the property as “Most definitely not your typical fairy-tale castle”.  The property was “designed and decorated to ensure its residents have a full authentic castle experience. In other words, to believe that it existed in a long forgotten era with its moat, drawbridge, castellated entrance, stained glass windows and cut stone staircase which serves all five storeys to include a top floor living room with domed frescoed ceiling and magnificent terrace to inhale the amazing views over Kenmare bay with the Caha mountain backdrop”.

Savills reported that the new owner intends spending a large part of the year at the castle, with plans to entertain overseas guests and business associates.
